How do I sign up for Toucan Cash?

To sign up for Toucan Cash please head to our Toucan Cash page where you can sign up for the service online.

How do I access Toucan Cash?

Toucan Cash is available through the Toucan Collect app, which you can download from the Apple App Store or Google Play. While Toucan Cash can be used as a standalone feature, signing up for the full Toucan Collect service gives your organisation the means to collect contactless donations as well as banking cash donations via the retail networks.

How long does it take for cash donations to be paid into a charity's bank account?

Cash donations are settled into your charity's bank account on T+10 (transaction day plus 10 days). Although physical settlements occur on T+10, you'll have full visibility of all cash deposits in your Toucan Dashboard from the moment they're made.

Should I count my cash ahead of depositing?

Yes, we recommend counting your cash before you deposit it. For a smoother and faster experience, please sort and bag it by denomination. This helps you keep track of your total and makes it easier for the teller to verify and process your deposit quickly.

Do I need to upload a copy of my receipt in-app?

Yes, we highly recommend taking a photo of your receipt and uploading it in the app after each deposit. The app will prompt you to do this, helping you keep a clear and accurate record. Please also keep the original paper receipt and follow your charity’s usual process for storing important documentation.

Why does my PayPoint receipt say allPay, while Post Office and Payzone receipts show Toucan Cash?

This is correct. Receipts from the Post Office and Payzone will show Toucan Cash in the header. However, PayPoint receipts will show allPay—this is expected and cannot be changed, as we’re unable to update the receipt text for PayPoint deposits.

Does the charity receive 100% of the money paid into the network?

Yes, that is correct. To support accurate reconciliation, all fees will be invoiced separately. This ensures that 100% of the funds deposited into the cash network are passed directly to the charity’s bank account.

Is the £999 limit the cheque limit as well?

No. There is no universal cheque deposit limit at the Post Office. Each bank sets its own cheque deposit limits (daily/annual).

If you’re depositing a cheque via the Post Office, please check your specific cheque deposit limits directly with your bank.

Note: Cheques cannot be deposited at Payzone.

What happens with cheques over £999?

As above, limits depend on your bank. Please check with them to confirm how larger cheque amounts are handled.

Can I deposit multiple cheques in one go, e.g., 3 × £200?

We recommend depositing one cheque per deposit.

Here’s why:

  • The Post Office processes each cheque individually, creating separate transactions.
  • To keep records aligned, each cheque should also be entered as its own deposit in the app.
  • If multiple cheques are grouped together, the Post Office’s transaction records won’t match the deposits recorded in the app or our settlement reports, which can lead to unnecessary reconciliation issues and delays.

To keep your records accurate and avoid discrepancies, please process each cheque as a separate deposit.
